Location: St Paul, Minnesota
Installation date: October 2022
Client: Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA)
Site type: Public park
Application: Groundwater and surface water
Product: SAFF® 20
Capacity: 200-300m3/day
The Solution:
- EPOC Enviro has been awarded a contract to install its Surface Active Foam Fractionation (SAFF®) containerized PFAS water treatment plant at a target site in Minnesota USA, by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). The MPCA is the custodian of a landmark settlement with 3M, making the US clean-up site one of the highest profile PFAS impacted locations in the world. The SAFF unit will be publicly deployed on a semi-trailer and towed to several PFAS impacted sites within the Minnesota locality, allowing citizens to see the PFAS being remediated in situ, and signalling the commencement of waterway restoration.
- The water’s low-foaming properties necessitated a comprehensive reassessment of the fractionation process.
- Water successfully treated as of June 2023: 6ML

(1) Approx. 30,000m3 feedwater treated for commissioning phase.
(2) Removal percentage (%R) is calculated by comparing treatment results to feed and trace lab LOR (1.0 ng/l).
(3) Ambient temperatures were approx. -20 degrees Celsius at time of testing.
