Location: Shoalhaven Council LGA, NSW, Australia
Installation date: November 2022
Client: Shoalhaven City Council
Site type: Landfill
Application: Leachate
Product: SAFF20®
Capacity: 200-240 m3/day (dependent upon leachate chemistry)
The Solution:
- The objective of the project is to remove PFOS, PFHxS & PFOA from landfill leachate catchment water to below the Australian PFAS NEMP V2 (2020) drinking water criteria so Shoalhaven City Council can use treated leachate water in its recycled glass plant rather than valuable potable water reserved for the local community.
- Water treated as of March 2023: 2,800,000L with zero contractual failures.
Treatment Results:
| PFAS Series | Feedwater Conc. (ng/l) | Treated Water Results (ng/l) | Average Removal Percentage (1) |
|---|---|---|---|
| PFOS | 80 | LOR | >99% |
| PFOA | 130 | LOR | >99% |
| PFHxS | 150 | LOR | >99% |
| Combined PFOS + PFHxS | 230 | LOR | >99% |
| 8:2-FTS | <50 | <50 | - |
| PFDA | <20 | <20 | - |
| PFNA | <20 | <20 | - |
| 6:2-FTS | <50 | <50 | - |
| PFHpS | <20 | <20 | - |
| PFHpA | 50 | <20 | >99% |
(1) Removal percentage (%R) is calculated by comparing treatment results to feed and/or laboratory LOR (10-20 ng/l), FTS (50 ng/l).
