Location: Korsör, Denmark (Denmark’s first PFAS-test centre)

Installation date: November 2023

Client: SCENARIOS H2020 Research and Innovation project

Site type: Fire training site

Application: Groundwater and Surface Water

Product: SAFF® 20

The Solution:

  • SCENARIOS is a four-year Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation project involving 19 partners from across Europe. The Project aims to devise and demonstrate a comprehensive set of technological solutions to address the detection, (bio)monitoring, long-term toxicity, risk assessment, pollution control and remediation of Per- and polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) as a test bed for zero pollution ambition from refractory and mobile organic chemicals.
  • As a partner in the SCENARIOS H2020 Research and Innovation project, the goal is to close the knowledge gap and achieve breakthrough Technology Readiness Level (TRL) advances in the toxicology, detection, and remediation of PFAS.
  • The SAFF® system is utilised on site as a full-scale trial to demonstrate that remediation can be achieved using only SAFF®, as well as SAFF® with additives.
  • During the project, trials for achieving a “closed-loop” system will be conducted, combining on-site destruction technology with SAFF®.
  • The plant has been operational for seven months and will remain on site for a total of 10 months.
