Meet Shaun Melrose, EPOC Enviro’s new Vice President in North America

12 October 2022

An experienced business leader with an environmental engineering background and qualifications, coupled with a love of leading by example and being hands-on when required, Shaun is a very welcome addition to our US-based team.

Being a jack of all trades makes for a barnstorming introduction. Since commencing in July, Shaun has been involved in multiple facets including business development, exploring potential business locations, managing client enquiries, and being the customer-facing edge of our business commissioning SAFF® units.

“I have built my reputation on applying an innovative mindset to everything I do, and I’m happy to use this, augmented by other leadership skills, to deliver business value as a priority,” he said.

“Getting involved with SAFF commissioning and aftersales provides me with an invaluable grounding. In the coming years, this knowledge will manifest itself in producing a quality, cutting-edge product for our US based customers,” he said.

As the company grows, Shaun will be responsible for leading the company’s PFAS remediation work in the USA and pioneering the link between US expansion and the Australian arm of the business.

Zimbabwean-born Shaun speaks three African languages, and after achieving his Engineering qualifications in the UK, he developed his career working in four different African countries, where he gained exposure to diverse cultures, environments and businesses.

Most recently he worked for the Kilombero Sugar Company in Tanzania, a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar which is the largest sugar company in Africa. Over his 12-year tenure, his career progressed from middle management up to the Director of Agriculture and Site Operations.
Of working with the EPOC team, Shaun is quick to comment on the company’s agile, continuous improvement ethos which enables people to collaborate across the business and find cross-company solutions, with efficiency and product quality as an outcome.

“I’m also full of admiration for the way that the company’s four core values are embedded within the team. They are lived values, and this is really important,” he said.

Shaun has also been able to share some insightful customer feedback, with North American clients noting that EPOC’s after-sales commitment to commission the SAFF units, which often involves long and late hours on their site, has left a lasting impression.
